The team at Acorn are pleased to share that we are enhancing our finishing capabilities to meet growing customer demand and to limit the rising cost of labour. We have invested in two additional stitching lines a Muller Prima and a Muller Brava. Both machines have improved automation to help reduce make ready times. They are also fed by stream feeders which will cut the amount of labour needed whilst increasing running speeds. The two lines will also be fitted with inline Palamedes to give automated bundle presentation and paper banding.
The target is for the two machines to be operational from late summer and at the same time an older hand fed stitching line will be decommissioned. Acorn now housing four saddle stitchers and one perfect binder is necessary further to a number of key contract wins. The business has added over 30 monthly short to medium run A4 magazines and a number of higher volume A5 retail catalogues. These investments will support the additional volume been produced in a sustainable way, whilst also addressing a potential bottle neck with capacity in key periods.
